Lindsay Barr - Canadian Independent Singer/Songwriter

Armed to the teeth with her full length debut album 'Devils of Pride' , Lindsay Barr already has an impressive arsenal of acclamations.

She recieved an ECMA Nomination for Hip Hop single of the year, while shortly after making it to the top 20 of Canadian Idol, clearly not slowing her down.

As the x front person for the popular folk/ funk band 'The Firewires' and former singer for highly praised 'MadMan Orchestra', Lindsay is no stranger to the warmth of the local spotlight, be it on stage or in the press. Last year she and the funktified Firewires appeared on CBC television The Beat, opened for Our Lady Peace at the Molson Canadian Rocks concert and Sam Roberts at the George Street festival closing night. They also recorded a full length album entitled Out Of Hunger (unreleased) with Round Sound Productions. Likewise that year MIA nominated MadMan Orchestra and winners of the 2005 Extreme Band Slam regional competition were showcased at ECMA's in Cape Breton with the opportunity to feature on breakfast television.

There is a sort of safety which comes with being an established member of an artistic community. To embark on a solo career in a new creative and commercial environment is a testament to her drive and artistic courage; traits reflected by the variety of her personal interests. Interests like dance, street performance and visual arts, which strengthen her already muscular and dynamic stage performance. Lindsay Barr is as much a song writer as she is a performer, as versatile in her notebooks as on her guitar.

Lindsay Barr - Devils of Pride (CD)

The ten songs that make up Devils of Pride are smart and well crafted. The album is a result of the applied effort of a seasoned and mature artist; obviously not dulled by change, but honed by it.

It's a record from an artist sharp enough that Lindsay Barr will no doubt be able to carve as deep a niche in the Canadian music industry as the one she leaves empty in Newfoundland.
